Being raised in an alcoholic home with a harsh stepdad, I became very broken. I used drugs and alcohol to fill my pain as well. I remember each week my grandmother would pick my siblings and I up and take us to church. When I was 16 years old, I cried out to the Lord and asked Jesus to come into my life. It was then that I began to grow in the Lord.

I was married in 1977. Steve and I were both born again, reading the word of God daily and involved in our church. Even so, I continued to struggle deeply with feeling unloved and not valued. In January of 1981, I took my first Miracle in the Mirror class with Jaque Banas Shank. My life was completely changed. I learned to hear the voice of God speak the Logos written word to me. God’s love began to heal me.

Friends, I have been a part of Visionwriters ever since that first class. I began to teach Visionwriters classes in 1983 with Cyndi VanMeter Smith.  I was in the first Visionkeeper Training and love being a Visionkeeper. In 1 Peter 3:15, it says to be ready to give a reason for the hope that is in me.  I love this verse!  Sharing what God has done in my life. “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;”

I became Vice President on the Visionwriters Board in 1998. In 2020 I was asked to be the Spiritual Advisor of the ministry. I am honored to be a part of the ministry. But I also believe God has called me to this position. I pray that I am led by His Spirit, and I pray earnestly for each of you. We are so loved by our Father God and by His Spirit. We are loving others as Christ loved us!

My childhood introduced me to a distant God in a cathedral setting. I had a strict mother and a military pilot Dad who was frequently absent. They divorced when I was 14. I lived a worldly life and married a good man, with all the complications that marriage and children could bring. At 34, I had a very friendly next-door-neighbor who often shared her recipes with me. They always included scriptures! Through her kindness to our family, I accepted God into my life. Our first church was a little Calvary Chapel where our neighbor and her family attended. It was life changing. I found that I could sing “directly to” Jesus, not “just about” Him. I went home as a completely new person! Everything started to change: my marriage, my love for my husband, and my attitude toward our children. My relationships all became an expression of my new life in Jesus.

I came to Visionwriters through a friend. When she first invited me to a class, I wasn’t up to another ‘boring’ Bible study, but God had other plans. When, after 6 months, I took the Miracle in the Mirror class, I was drawn into what I was learning about Jesus and my relationship with Him. For two years I took classes, and then became a Visionkeeper because I didn’t want to lose touch with the materials offered. It was at that time I realized how much I loved facilitating classes with the students.

I have served on Visionwriters International Board as Treasurer and then as Vice President. During this time, I started writing studies for Visionwriters, as we were desiring to add new “Living Studies” to our “Legacy Studies.” The first study I wrote is called “A Surrender to Living Loved.” Then another VK wrote a study manual for the book Detours. As I had set the current template for the new studies, I kind of fell into the position of New Studies Committee Coordinator.

God uses me in the New Studies because He knows I will hear His voice and obey His words to me. Others can speak and say all kinds of things they want me to do, and I can deny that I am the one to meet that need. But when God speaks, I hear. He is the one who gives me all the resources I need to create these studies. He gives me the ability for each study that He wants me to be involved in, and I believe He gives me the discernment to know, while journalizing any particular study, whether it is going to be a study that will meet the needs of the Visionwriters or not. He has given me certain organizational gifts and these He uses through me as Coordinator for the New Studies Committee.

Mark Bunner lives outside of Hays, Kansas on a farm. In addition to their small goat dairy, he is also the CEO of a water filtration company. Mark was introduced to Visionwriters in 2017 and quickly found that this was much more than just a Bible study. Discovering that journalizing truly created a better perspective on who we are and who God is, Mark became a Visionkeeper to help others understand that God is speaking to us.

My relationship with Jesus started when I was 5 years old. I was at a meeting with my dad and a college student shared with me how to ask Jesus in my heart, which I wanted to do. A long while later when I was 18 years old, I attended a Christian camp. I saw the college students there were so excited about their faith in Jesus. I wanted what they had so I totally gave my life to Jesus. A few months later I was off to college, became involved in Bible studies, and grew in my commitment to Christ. In the years ahead I was very involved in leading Bible studies for children, teens, and adults.

In 2009 I met Jaque Banas Shank. She had just moved to Abilene and had married a very close friend of ours. Jaque and I became close friends and she began to tell me about the Bible studies she had written and the ministry called Visionwriters. I took my first class called Miracle in the Mirror in 2010. I greatly enjoyed these different studies and the practice of journalizing. In 2011 I became a Visionkeeper because I wanted to facilitate these studies for my friends since they were so life changing for me. I had learned to hear God’s voice more clearly and received a greater understanding of my identity in Christ.

In 2014 Jaque asked me if I would serve on the Board of Directors of Visionwriters International as President. I serve as President today. I knew this ministry had enriched my life and I wanted others to have the same opportunity to know God more intimately. My life is so much richer being in fellowship with other Visionwriter students, and the discipline and accountability have helped me immensely to mature in my relationship with my Lord. Because Christ in me shines as an encourager, I enjoy serving so that others might find the peace and joy that I have found.

I accepted Christ when I was a young teenager. But, as I got older, like many, I drifted away. When I was in my late 40s, the Lord turned me back to Himself. He gave me a deep hunger to know Him. I returned to church, to Bible study, and to fellowship with other believers. But these did not satisfy my hunger for Him. I needed something more. I met Jaque Banas Shank in a small group Bible study at the church I attended. She was planning to offer a Visionwriting class and I felt the Lord urging me to take it. This class, “Love the Only Diet There Is,” was my first experience with Visionwriting, also called journalizing, and I’ve never looked back. I found Him and He is what I need.

I became a VisionKeeper in 2013 and I will remain one for as long as I am able. I was asked to join the Visionwriters Board as secretary and have been a member of the board since January of 2020. God has given me a heart for discipling. We all need to know who we are in Him and that He wants a personal relationship with us where He speaks and we can hear His voice and converse with Him. Nothing compares with a student who experiences hearing Him speak directly to them for the first time and they find something they cannot find anywhere but in Him. To me, there is no greater joy than being a Visionkeeper. I will use the talents He has given me wherever He places me in Visionwriters International, in my church, and among my family and friends.

Nothing with God is serendipity, for He had a plan to grow me further. I heard about Visionwriters in early 2016 and loved the classes. I found a solid, loving community in Visionwriters International. In mid 2017, I became a Visionkeeper.

I have facilitated classes with students and hear frequently how the truth of God has set hearts free in Him.Through Visionwriters’ weekly classes and daily  journalizing conversations based on scripture, students, as they  converse with God and record the conversation, become aware of the Father’s desire to uniquely speak to each of His children. An eternal family bond is offered.

I served first as Board Secretary for Visionwriters from July 2018 through the end of 2019, at which time I transferred into the position of Visionkeeper Liaison. I was led to Christ in my early 20’s by a coworker, but did not walk with Him until I was 38 years old. I lost my dad suddenly to a heart attack and my mother became ill with cancer just a few months after. I lost her 14 months after my dad. The Lord had been wooing me to Himself for months, maybe even years and then, one month after I lost dad, being overtaken by grief, I had an experience with the Holy Spirit that changed my life forever. The Lord knew I was going to need Him as I went through the illness with my mother.I started doing Bible studies and was fascinated by how the Old and New Testaments weave God’s story together. Eventually I was asked to lead a women’s small group Bible study at my church and have been facilitating Bible studies ever since. Somewhere along the way I found myself wanting more. My heart had changed, and I was becoming angry. I was having fits of rage with my husband, and I did not even recognize myself anymore. I knew I was in trouble. Eventually I cried out to the Lord, “Please, Lord help me. I cannot fix myself and I need help!”A week later I got a call from a friend who said she had been doing Visionwriter studies and she and her Visionwriter facilitator had prayed about whom to invite to their next class. I suspected this was an answer to my prayer from the Lord and I agreed to do it. Within the very 1st week, I knew God was calling me to facilitate these studies. He got hold of my heart and showed me how it had hardened over time, This was because I was notcom ing to Him to show me what He wanted me to see.
Needless to say, the anger issues subsided after I discovered Christ in me, the hope of glory. I finally understood the significance of my identity in Christ. He began to unfold the Scriptures to me as I journalized them with Him. This is when a full-blown intimacy with my Savior began to take form. I literally wake up running to get to Him every morning.I became a Visionkeeper eight years ago, in order to bring this life transforming ministry to those the Lord brings. Journalizing with God, has allowed Him to speak to me directly in my circumstances. It has been a pleasure to watch Him use this tool to bring the truth of our identity in Him, to other peopleI was asked to join a New Materials Committee for Visionwriters. We endeavor to bring other authors into the ministry. Through my spiritual gift of encouragement I have brought teaching and mentoring into play over all the last 30 years of walking with the Lord. I feel like He is using these gifts, honing my skills to assist in working out the details of this endeavor with Visionwriters.

I accepted the free gift of Jesus while I was in college.  My family only attended church on Christmas and Easter with my grandparents when I was a child.  One night at college, while my roommates were all out at a party, I realized there had to be something more to this thing called life.  That weekend I selected a church out of the yellow pages to visit and there was an evangelist preaching the gospel.  Everything he said that day made perfect sense and I responded to the invitation at the end of his message.  While my closeness to God has ebbed and flowed over the years, I have always felt His presence and known He was near, and within me, since that day over two decades ago.

My wife Alicia became involved in Visionwriters a few years before I did.  I saw how it was changing her walk with the Lord and her close relationship to Him.  But, in those early years, I saw it as another women’s bible study that she was involved in.  It was not until I took my first Miracle in the Mirror class that I realized the power of journalizing and that these classes were for men too.  Since taking that first class, journalizing has had a significant impact on my life.  While walking through some of the most difficult years of my life, I found myself drawn nearer to the Lord through journalizing.  The power of the pen goes beyond the material of the classes and enlightens His truth deep within the heart.

After taking several Visionwriters classes, I decided to become a Visionkeeper so that I could share this powerful resource with other men so they too could connect closer with God.  Facilitating classes and helping with Visionkeeper Training has been very rewarding.

As an active duty member of the military, I have developed a unique skill set for collecting information and organizing plans with a high attention to detail.  This is very useful when planning events.  After attending several of the VK retreats, I offered to help find a new venue and handle the logistics of coordinating lodging and catering for the event.  From that, the position of Retreat Coordinator was formed and I am currently planning our 4th VK Retreat since taking the position.  I enjoy getting into the details of developing the menu, working with the local conference center team, and making sure the board has everything they need to have a smooth and exciting event.  It is very rewarding to see the joy on the VKs’ faces as they enjoy retreat together.  I have also enjoyed going to local businesses around the retreat venues and getting donations to give away during the breaks.  This is way outside of my comfort zone and I know the Lord is using my willingness to step out, in order to bless the VKs.

I was blessed to have been raised in a Christian home, church, and community on the plains of northeast Colorado. I grew up learning and knowing the truth about God’s love and grace and began my own personal relationship with Him when I was in middle school. Following my college years, I chose to be baptized as evidence of my personal decision to follow Christ. Even at times when I would “wander,” I was always aware of His call upon my life.

The Lord has blessed me with small group Bible Studies throughout my adult life. I am so thankful for Christian community.

I was first connected with Visionwriters in 2012, at a time when I had just gone through a “storm” in my life. I found healing and a deepening of my faith in the fellowship and teaching provided by Visionwriters. A year later, I followed the call of God in my heart to become a Visionkeeper.

I was asked by the Visionwriters Board in 2020 if I would be interested in being part of a team to create new studies for the Visionwriters’ curriculum. After praying about it, I knew that God had called me to this team. I love to organize, I love to write, I love to teach, and I love scripture. I feel the Lord has gifted me in these areas, so the work with the New Studies team has been a blessing and an inspiration to me. My prayer is that others will be as blessed and refreshed by the studies, as I have been in writing them.

I was led to Christ in my early 20’s by a coworker but did not walk with Him until I was 38 years old. I had lost my Dad suddenly to a heart attack and my Mother became ill with cancer just a few months after. I lost her 14 months after my Dad. The Lord had been wooing me to Himself for months, maybe even years and then, one month after I lost Dad, being overtaken by grief, I had an experience with the Holy Spirit that changed my life forever. The Lord knew I was going to need Him as I went through the illness with my Mother.

I started doing Bible studies and was fascinated by how the Old and New Testaments weave God’s story together. Eventually I was asked to lead a Women’s small group Bible Study at my church and have been facilitating Bible studies ever since. Somewhere along the way I found myself wanting for more. My heart had changed, and I was becoming angry. I was having fits of rage with my husband, and I did not even recognize myself anymore. I knew I was in trouble. Eventually I cried out to the Lord, “Please, Lord help me. I cannot fix myself and I need help!”

A week later I got a call from a friend who said she had been doing Visionwriter studies and she and her Visionwriter Facilitator had prayed about whom to invite to their next class. I suspected this was an answer to my prayer from the Lord and I agreed to do it. Within the very 1st week, I knew God was calling me to facilitate these studies. He so got ahold of my heart and showed me how it had hardened over time because I was kind of on my own without coming to Him to show me what He wanted me to see.

Needless to say, the anger issues subsided after I discovered Christ in me, the hope of glory. I finally understood the significance of my identity in Christ. He began to unfold the Scriptures to me as I journalized them with Him. This is when a full-blown intimacy with my Savior began to take form. I literally wake up running to get to Him every morning.

I became a Visionkeeper, bringing this life transforming ministry of Visionwriters for about 8 years now to whomsoever the Lord brings. Diligently seeking the truth of Scripture through journalizing with Him has allowed me to hear His voice speak to them directly to me and my circumstances. It has been a pleasure to watch Him use this tool to bring the truth of our identity in Him to people.

I was asked to join a New Studies Committee for Visionwriters as we endeavor to bring other authors into the ministry. My spiritual gift of encouragement has brought teaching and mentoring into play over all these 30 years of walking with the Lord. I feel like He is using these gifts and honing my skills to assist in working out the details of this endeavor with Visionwriters.

Growing up, my little brother and I lived with our grandparents. They taught us about Jesus and were wonderful to us in so many ways. However, one of my earliest childhood memories is of the heartbreak of missing my mom. She came to visit us once or twice a year. Even though my grandparents showed me great love, I grew up with the mindset that no one really loved me, they just thought they did. When I was 10, at a revival, I accepted Jesus as my Savior. As a teen and young adult, I fell away from His truths, knowing right from wrong, I chose wrong. Living a ‘Christian’ life was so impossible; it consisted of a long list of rules that I could not keep. Until starting Visionwriters, I did not understand the power of the Holy Spirit who dwells in me and changes me from the inside out.

In 2010, Jaque invited me to her house where she would be recording a revised teaching of a study she had written. The study was “Miracle in the Mirror.” It was during that first class that I realized Christ dwells in me. I learned through experience that when I listen, He actually speaks to me personally about my heart, and reveals His love, grace, and mercy to my soul. We are truly loved with an everlasting love. The revelation of Christ in me has been a life changer. Before I had tried and failed, tried, and failed again. Now I know I am being transformed by the renewal of my mind from the inside out. This is an amazing gift from God.

I became a Visionkeeper early on and then in 2019 was asked to come on the Visionwriter team as Bookkeeper. I had asked God to bring me a job and the VI Board had asked Him to bring them a bookkeeper. It was an amazing God moment when the Lord answered both prayers. It has been both a pleasure and a blessing to be a part of Visionwriters in this way. As Bookkeeper, I pay the bills, manage donations, file reports, and give detailed accounts of all the VI financials through reports to the VI treasurer and board. They are a wonderful team to work with. I know their heart for the Lord and the ministry. They spend many hours volunteering their time to advance the Kingdom through Visionwriters. May the Lord continue to use Visionwriters International in a mighty way as we seek Him and surrender to His ways.

Hi, my name is Grace Bishop. I am married to my wonderful husband, William Bishop, and together, we share our home with our two beloved cats, Poppet and Penelope.

I surrendered my life to Christ at 7 years old, but unfortunately, growing up in a dysfunctional household where religion was often used as a tool for punishment, I didn’t learn much about God’s true character, love, and his desire for relationship. But as I began to question who God really is, I was fortunate enough to discover Visionwriters. Through my involvement with this organization, I gained an entirely new perspective on who God is – a loving and compassionate Father who loves us right where we are, without the need to compete for His approval.

I began working with Visionwriters International as an independent contractor on April 16th of 2023, I currently serve as the Home Office Administrator. It is a great privilege and blessing to be able to serve this ministry and all who are involved. Our Father is not silent, but a loving and listening Father!

LEARN MORE

I come to Visionwriters International with deep experience running an award-winning syndicated media empire for over a decade, working as a Network Producer and Executive Producer at companies like iHeartMedia, Premiere Networks, and Sirius XM, in addition to consulting for various clients across multimedia platforms including radio, television, website and digital, and broadcast and print. I have a wealth of knowledge to help bring the Kingdom vision to the world via the internet and digital arena through web development, social media, video and audio production for podcasting and youtube, and even more!

I began digital production as an intern for a local radio show called the Bobby Bones Show in 2005. I quickly rose to become Executive Producer, a role I held for 12 more years, and what started as a small local show, grew into a nationally syndicated critically acclaimed success.

Despite all of my career success, by 2013 I was feeling restless and unfulfilled and a chronic illness was plaguing my life. Desperate to fill the emptiness in my life and health, I began my journey down a spiritual path, completely unaware of how closely my father, God, was watching over me and guiding my steps toward the truth.

In 2016, on a whim, I quit my job, picked up my entire life (basically just my clothes and my cat, Walter), and moved to New York City. Within a few months, I was struggling financially and still had no clue what I was doing in NYC. It was then, in a very dark crisis moment, that Jesus revealed himself to me. Not in a vision, not in some dramatic way like you see in the movies. Jesus revealed himself to me in the Bible.

What I didn’t realize was that since my mother had become a born-again Christian in early 2016, I had been hearing the word from her, and, without knowing it, that incorruptible seed had been planted inside my heart and had begun naturally growing without me even trying. If I’m being completely honest, I feel like I actively fought against it at times! From the moment I realized Jesus was my healer and he loves me unconditionally, I was hooked and my relationship with Jesus and with my father began to grow and flourish.

Throughout the past several years I have consistently seen God pull me out of one crisis after another. He has been my provider and my strength and he has shown himself to be faithful to me in the hardest moments of my life. I know I am here and I am blessed because of him and his love.

Since moving to New York, and being called into the ministry, I have been searching for what my purpose is and what he has prepared me for. In February I met with Cindy, the president of Visionwriters International, about the possibility of taking over this webmaster position. I was confused, to say the least – when I was passed up for the position then – because I really felt it on my heart that God wanted me to contribute to this specific ministry.

Things started to move really fast and 2022 turned into a very tough year so that by July, I was in a desperate health and financial situation and praying again to God about my NEEDING to transition my work into Kingdom clients. I felt that the secular world of production and digital and web development was dark and I constantly needed to renew my mind to the word of God after every meeting and task and it was affecting my health even more. I was dealing with people that I didn’t think had great motivations and I just wanted to use the gifts and talents that God has given and grown in me to further HIS message, instead of the Devil’s.

Within a few days (less than 1 week!) of that desperate prayer to God saying enough is enough and it’s time for me to work for Him more fully in my career, Cindy called me up and asked if I was still available for the webmaster position at Visionwriters International! The confusion I felt by my “mishearing” God about this ministry completely melted away and I realized that I WAS called to help spread his message through the tool of Visionwriters International, but just like Moses, I was just trying to force it a little too early for God’s plan! Since I began working with Visionwriters International, God has revealed so much of his will for my life and career to me, and I have even experienced some miraculous, progressive healing of issues health issues I’ve had since I was a child!

God knew best that what was about to happen in my life needed my full attention and he wasn’t surprised by any of this!  I have learned through all of this, and more, that God’s timing always turns out to be “my perfect timing” if I stay patient and trust in he who is always faithful.
