“Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden.” Genesis 3:8 (NIV)

Lord, it is interesting to me that Adam and Eve heard you walking in the garden. It sounds like it was a normal thing for you to meet with them in the cool of the day. They must have enjoyed spending time with you unpacking all that happened each day. 

Allen, we did spend time together each day. I want to do that with you, too. 

Lord, I want that, too. I want to spend time with you every day, but I often get distracted and don’t take the time to spend with you. Can you tell me what the problem is? Why do I struggle so much to do the very thing I want to do? 

Allen, If you focus on me and make the commitment to start the day with me, and end the day with me, everything else will fall into place. Just like with Adam and Eve before the fall, we spent time in the cool of the day, which happens twice a day – in the morning and in the evening.
