The Sacrifice of Jesus
The old plan was only a hint of the good things in the new plan. Since that old “law plan” wasn’t complete in itself, it couldn’t complete those who followed it. No matter how many sacrifices were offered year after year, they never added up to a complete solution.
If they had, the worshipers would have gone merrily on their way, no longer dragged down by their sins.
But instead of removing awareness of sin, when those animal sacrifices were repeated over and over they actually heightened awareness and guilt.
The plain fact is that bull and goat blood can’t get rid of sin.
That is what is meant by this prophecy, put in the mouth of Christ: You don’t want sacrifices and offerings year after year; you’ve prepared a body for me for a sacrifice.
It’s not fragrance and smoke from the altar that whet your appetite.
So I said, “I’m here to do it your way, O God, the way it’s described in your Book.”
When he said, “You don’t want sacrifices and offerings,” he was referring to practices according to the old plan.
When he added, “I’m here to do it your way,” he set aside the first in order to enact the new plan –
God’s way – by which we are made fit for God by the once-for-all sacrifice of Jesus.
Every priest goes to work at the altar each day, offers the same old sacrifices year in, year out, and never makes a dent in the sin problem.
As a priest, Christ made a single sacrifice for sins, and that was it! Then he sat down right beside God
and waited for his enemies to cave in.
It was a perfect sacrifice by a perfect person to perfect some very imperfect people. By that single offering, he did everything that needed to be done for everyone who takes part in the purifying process.
The Holy Spirit confirms this:
This new plan I’m making with Israel isn’t going to be written on paper, isn’t going to be chiseled in stone; This time “I’m writing out the plan in them, carving it on the lining of their hearts.”
He concludes, I’ll forever wipe the slate clean of their sins.
Once sins are taken care of for good, there’s no longer any need to offer sacrifices for them.
So, friends, we can now – without hesitation – walk right up to God, into “the Holy Place.”
Jesus has cleared the way by the blood of his sacrifice, acting as our priest before God.
The “curtain” into God’s presence is his body.
So let’s do it – full of belief, confident that we’re presentable inside and out.
Let’s keep a firm grip on the promises that keep us going. He always keeps his word. HEBREWS 10:1-23 (THE MESSAGE)
Walking right in with confidence to God’s holy place. We are already complete works of God. You have already healed us. It’s already done. This is a very different way of thinking and believing in you. This is taking everything and putting it on us and all we have to do is believe. My worldly mind is thinking it sounds too good to be true because nothing in this world is that good for nothing in return. But you are not of this world. You created it and you sit on high above it. You love us no matter what we do. How can I accept who I am and what this is telling me and not end up sinning? If I am who I was always meant to be already a complete work in God, then why do I still sin? Why do any of us sin and if we sin how can we confidently enter in to your holy place?
Susan, Love, My love for you and all people is why. I sacrificed Jesus to wipe the slate clean now and forever. As you live in me you will no longer want to sin. It will be as unnatural to you as eating bark. When sin becomes unnatural you will have to purposefully choose sin where as now you have to purposefully choose not to sin. Your heart will change but not in the sense that I change it. It will change in the sense that what is buried inside will now be released and the darkness clouding it will be destroyed. You are who you are. A complete and wonderful work in me. You choose to follow me or to follow satan. Your precious and pure heart gets covered in either a blanket of light or a blanket of darkness. One must first shed the first blanket in order to put the new one on. You are shedding your blanket of darkness and putting on a blanket of light. You are revealing that pure heart inside. Yes I can change you but why would I. You and all my people are already complete. I love you very much Susan, my precious child. I hope one day you will understand my words better and listen to me.
Yes, Jesus. I know I did it again. I don’t know why this is so difficult for me to give up. Why I have such a hard time saying no to it. Jesus please help me see the truth and to be able to shed this dark blanket of greed from my heart so that I may fully receive your blessings and be healthier and skinnier. I love you Lord Jesus God Almighty, Father. Praise be your name here on earth as it is in heaven.
Susan, you will soon I promise and I always keep my promises even when a dog nose is trying to get your attention. Go and be loved my precious daughter. Listen for my voice. The more you resist the easier it will become. I love you very much. Susan, my precious daughter.
